Used Volkswagen Crafter Tipper
The Tipper is available in a single or double cab, with front or rear-wheel drive. Whichever suits your style or situation – you will be covered. The Tipper’s high-strength steel platform will be able to handle pretty much whatever is thrown before it.
When it comes to working with pieces of equipment that need strength, reliability, and versatility, you’re going to need a vehicle that can ease the burden on you and get things done handily. Fortunately, VW teamed up with Ingimex and created the Volkswagen Crafter Tipper. A van that works hard and provides all the results one needs on a difficult day at the site.

Practicality of the VW Crafter Tipper
The Crafter comes in many different forms with many different volumes and payloads. 3 wheelbases, 4 body lengths, 3 roof heights and 3 gross weights – that’s a lot of variety. A 1,300mm-wide sliding side door is a staple of all the vans – they permit the loading of a Euro pallet at the front of the load space. A second sliding side door is available on the driver’s side, too.
All crafter vans have a full-height steel bulkhead, though window bulkheads are available and a bulkhead with a sliding door could also be an option if one so chooses. The floorings available come in the form of rubber and wood. The Crafter has the option of hardboard and plywood for side linings.
Reliability of the Crafter Tipper
All VW vans come with electronic stability control as standard. This puts their vans alongside the Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit. The Crafter also has an electronic brake force distribution and a traction control system that assists a driver having to deal with slippery roads. As someone looking to carry lots of significant loads, this kind of system is gold dust.
There are many other added extras available, such as optional daytime running lights and a passenger airbag. Front airbags, with side and front curtain airbags, are also there if one so chooses. Parking sensors in the front and rear of the van are also an option – a reversing camera displayed in the 5.8-inch radio screen would be included, too. A three-year warranty is provided.
In terms of the engines and the capabilities, the Crafter is powered by a range of 2.0 litre TDI engines. While they’re smaller in comparison to many similar kinds of vehicle, they certainly pack a punch and can offer plenty of torque. Take, for instance, the bi-turbo 164bhp engine – it delivers 400Nm of torque, which is more than enough for rapid acceleration in all but the 5,000kg GVW models.
The Crafter Tipper uses a six-speed manual gearbox. Many VW vans have the option of an automatic or manual transmission, but the Crafters are exclusively manual. For those who are used to automatic gearboxes, no worrying needs to take place as the experience behind the wheel makes driving the Tipper simple enough to handle thanks to the high driving position and the assured handling.
CO2, Running Costs and miles-per-gallon
The Tipper can come with BlueMotion Technology (BMT) if the driver chooses. It’s available across all engines. It adds cruise control, low-rolling-resistance tyres and energy recuperation. There are also many dedicated BlueMotion models based around the 108bhp and 135bhp engines. These models tend to have less weight and improved aerodynamics. The BlueMotion Tech can return up to 42mpg with CO2 emissions of just 176/km.
