Why do I need to service my car?

Having your car serviced regularly is the best way to find any faults, issues or problems that if not fixed could be more expensive to put right further down the line or even take your car off the road.

Sometimes even a slight vibration or noise is a warning sign that there’s a bigger issue so the quicker it’s noticed the better.

Not only does servicing your vehicle regularly give you the peace of mind that you’re driving a safe vehicle, but it also extends its lifespan meaning you’ll get more years of use out of it. It also means it will be worth more when you come to part-exchange or sell than a vehicle that hasn’t been serviced regularly.

How often do I need to service my car?

The easiest way to find out when your car is due a service is inside your vehicle handbook.

How often you need to service your car depends on how many miles you’ve done, how long it’s been since your previous service as well as the make and model of the car.

Different vehicle manufacturers have varying recommendations for how often to service their vehicles, but you’ll always be able to find out in your handbook.

If you can’t find your vehicle handbook with your car or online our service advisors will be able to help work out when you should next book your vehicle in.

What's included in a car service?

At Swansway we offer two different types of vehicle services; minor service and major service.

Both of these services cover different checks and the one your vehicle needs will depend on how old it is and how many miles it’s done. If you’re not sure which to book our service team are happy to help.
