But so that you can have total peace of mind, we’ve partnered with the RAC to offer you Volkswagen Roadside Assistance. It’s a breakdown service that’s tailored to your Volkswagen, and has the added reassurance that it’s operated by Britain’s most experienced breakdown provider *.

Dedicated technicians.

First line support will be provided by a team of 90 Dedicated Technicians, fully trained by Volkswagen and carrying the latest diagnostic equipment, specialist tools and parts. Perhaps even more reassuring is the back up by 120 Accredited Technicians. On call 24/7, these Technicians are also specially trained on all Volkswagen Group vehicles.

VW Roadside Assistance Provides:

  • Onward Travel – includes replacement vehicle for up to 48 hours, overnight accommodation for you and up to 7 passengers and alternative transport costs if your car can’t be fixed at the roadside or by a Volkswagen retailer
  • European cover – includes cover across the continent, English-speaking incident managers and transport back to the UK if necessary
  • Dedicated Volkswagen Roadside Assistance patrols carrying only genuine Volkswagen parts and tools
  • Roadside – we’ll attend to your car at the roadside anywhere in the UK
  • Recovery – includes delivery of your car to any UK destination including Volkswagen retailer network

Accident Management
If the vehicle is unusable as a result of a road traffic accident, Volkswagen Roadside Assistance may in our absolute discretion, provide an Accident Assistance Helpline to guide the driver through the legalities of liability and insurance notification, following the accident.

Legal helpline
Volkswagen Roadside Assistance may in our absolute discretion provide general advice on any UK personal legal motoring matter, although this is not a substitute for taking independent specialist legal advice where necessary.

European Assistance

Driving to Europe on holiday? No matter where you are, you can always count on VW.

Our European motoring assistance will help you in the event of a breakdown across Europe. Make sure that you have the following original documents and other items with you and have familiarised yourself with the Terms and Conditions.

  • Credit card (required if you need to take advantage of the vehicle hire benefit)
  • Motor insurance certificate/Green Card (contact your motor insurer before taking a vehicle out of the UK to find out if you need a Green Card or to upgrade to fully comprehensive insurance)
  • Vehicle registration document, plus letter of authority if vehicle is hired or borrowed
  • Driving licence (including paper counterpart if photocard licence)
  • Spare set of car keys
  • Passport
  • Statement of insurance or booking reference
  • International driving permit (where necessary)
  • Set of spare light bulbs and the warning triangle
  • High visibility jackets (at least two - check European Motoring Requirements below)
  • Check your Volkswagen Roadside Assistance details are correct

If your Volkswagen is under one year old, you have Volkswagen Roadside Assistance provided free of charge. Touareg and Phaeton owners have three years’ complimentary cover.
