SUVs are big business these days, and Audi is well-placed to offer a model that’s sure to fit your requirements. From practical and affordable family models through to electric cars with 300-plus miles of range and powerful performance versions, there’s a huge amount to choose from with Audi’s line-up.

Taking in Audi’s ‘Q’ models – along with their sporty ‘S’ and ‘RS’ equivalents – as well as electric e-tron models, there are 15 different models to choose from. But how do you settle on the right Audi SUV for you? Let our quick guide to the full range help you to decide…

Q2

Kicking off Audi’s SUV range is the Q2, its most affordable option of this bodystyle, with prices starting from £25,135. Available with a broad range of trim levels and petrol engines, the Q2 packs a high-quality interior and plenty of technology, along with distinctive styling that helps this Audi to stand out.

But despite being Audi’s smallest SUV, it’s impressively practical, with a decent amount of room in the interior that makes it ideal if you have one or two small children.

SQ2

Though it’s Audi’s most affordable SUV, the Q2 is still available with some additional pace – as served with the SQ2.

Using the same engine as Audi’s sporty S3, this SUV develops 296bhp, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.7 seconds. At the same time, it remains a practical and high-quality choice for those that don’t want something too big.

Q3

Move up to the Q3 and you’ll get something with a noticeably more spacious interior, with a large boot and plenty of rear-seat space helping to make this one of Audi’s most popular models.

The Q3 also gets a stunning, tech-laden interior that’s lifted straight out of Audi’s more expensive cars, while it’s good to drive as well.

Q3 Sportback

In more recent years, Audi has expanded its SUV range to include ‘Sportback’ models, which essentially bring sleeker coupe-like standing. Like this Q3 Sportback.

The most affordable SUV of this type is the Q3, which get a more dynamic and sportier look than the standard car, though still with the same great interior and generous equipment levels. Just be prepared to pay slightly more for that style, and at the expense of practicality.

RS Q3

Audi’s ‘RS’ division is widely respected, and though it might be best known for its performance estate cars, the brand has turned its attention to sporty SUVs in more recent years.

The RS Q3 is the first of only two RS-badged SUVs, and is kitted out with an excellent 395bhp five-cylinder petrol engine (the same as that in the RS3), and is packed with character, while delivering plenty of pace too, as it’s able to hit 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds. You can choose the RS Q3 in the regular bodystyle, or as a sleeker Sportback.

Q4 e-tron

A recent entry to Audi’s line-up is the Q4 e-tron, and it’s different to all the models we’ve mentioned so far as it’s all-electric. Bringing a smart design and plenty of technology, the Q4 e-tron has also got a particularly roomy interior.

The other thing to note about the Q4 e-tron is that – despite currently being Audi’s most affordable EV – it has the longest range of them all, and is capable of up to 314 miles between charges.

Q4 e-tron Sportback

Continuing with the Q4 Sportback, Audi’s new eclectic Q4 is also available in this sleeker bodytyle, and it looks particularly cool here with the sloping roofline and neat ducktail at the rear.

The rest of the package is the same as the Q4, meaning it’s a fine family SUV capable of impressing charging speeds. Because of the swoopy shape, it can also travel a bit further on a charge too, with Audi claiming 320 miles.

Q5

Another mainstay in Audi’s SUV range is the mid-size Q5, a model that would fit the bill for most, thanks to its practical and flexible interior, but still with usable proportions.

A fine five-seat family SUV, the Q5 gets a brilliant interior and is one of the most comfortable cars to drive in its class.

Q5 Sportback

The Sportback theme continues with the Q5 Sportback, and Audi has cleverly managed here to make a more dynamic-looking SUV that still delivers big on space and practicality.

It retains the same classy design as the regular SUV too and is also offered with a fantastic range of petrol and diesel engines, all of which come with quattro all-wheel-drive as standard.

SQ5

If you want a bit more poke from your Q5, take a look at this sportier option, which packs a 336bhp 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine under the bonnet.

Though a diesel engine might not be the most obvious choice for a performance car, it suits the SQ5 well, as it’s able to manage 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds, though will still prove relatively good on fuel too.

Q7

If you want an Audi with seven seats, the Q7 is your only option, but that’s no bad thing as this SUV is one of the best all-rounders on the market.

It offers a vast amount of interior space while having one of the best interiors of any new car on sale, as it’s brilliantly built and packed with technology.

SQ7

If you want that seven-seat practicality of the Q7, but are looking for additional performance, you should take a look at the SQ7. Though it used to use a 4.0-litre diesel engine, Audi has recently switched it to an exceptional 500bhp 4.0-litre V8 petrol unit, allowing this large SUV to get from 0-60mph in just four seconds.

However, it still comes with seven seats, while the list of standard equipment is seriously impressive, including 21-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension and Valcona leather sports seats.

Q8

At the top of Audi’s SUV range is the Q8, which certainly isn’t a car for those that want to blend in. With a particularly bold design, this model certainly stands out, while it offers an exceptionally luxurious interior.

Though the Q8 is a five-seater, it still offers a vast amount of interior space, while a more coupe-like profile than the Q7 it shares various connections with.

SQ8

If you like the Q8, but want it with additional pace, take a look at the SQ8. It used to feature a powerful diesel engine, but like the SQ7, has recently changed to using a 500bhp 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine.

With this under the bonnet, the SQ8 can manage 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds, while still getting all the style and quality of the standard Q8.

RSQ8

As if the Q8 couldn’t be bold or aggressive-looking enough, Audi also offers it as an RS Q8 version. Here, it uses a massive 592bhp 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine (the same as the RS6 and RS7) and it can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds.

It’s packed to the rafters with equipment and technology, though unsurprisingly does get a rather steep list price to go with it.
