Just 2,000 units of the R-Line will be made available globally and follows other models with the trim in bringing a racier look and a slightly more dynamic focus to the estate.
Immediately catching the eye on the Passat R-Line is the addition of black styling elements, while its LED taillights have been tinted dark to match the theme. Similarly, the 19-inch alloy wheels have been painted gloss black.
The interior benefits from a similar treatment as well. Model-specific sports seats partially upholstered in black Nappa leather feature, while stainless steel pedals and side sills are also present. Rounding out interior additions is ambient lighting.
As for equipment, a digital instrument cluster replaces traditional dials and gauges in front of the driver, while a 9.2-inch infotainment system takes centre stage — with support for Apple CarPlay. Matrix LED headlights are also standard-fit, as is Volkswagen’s Dynamic Chassis Control system bringing adjustable suspension and selectable driving modes.
Two powertrains are available for the Passat Estate R-Line — one diesel and one petrol, both 2.0-litres in capacity. The former produces 237bhp and the latter 268bhp. Power is sent to all four wheels, and expect both to be mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
